Here are some tips to help you make the best shipping decision.
There is NO SUCH THING as instant shipping. We need time to process your order. We work quickly and usually ship orders within 24 hours or the next business day. If we receive your order in the morning, we usually ship it the same day. If we receive your order in the afternoon or evening, we usually ship it the next day.
We do not ship on weekends or holidays because UPS does not work on those days. The post office is open Saturday, but closed on Sundays and holidays. During our busy seasons, we mail packages on Saturday.
UPS Ground is usually the most economical choice. If you want guaranteed delivery, we recommend UPS.
Priority Mail usually arrives in 2-3 days, but delivery is not guaranteed and may take longer.
UNITED PARCEL SERVICE (UPS)
Shipments and deliveries are made Monday through Friday. UPS does not count Saturday and Sunday as business days. All UPS packages are insured and can be traced if they become lost.
Delivery times are guaranteed. To calculate your actual delivery time, go to the UPS web site at www.ups.com and click on "calculate delivery time." Enter our city and zip code, Seattle 98115, for origin of package and your city and zip code for destination.
When we ship your order, we send an e-mail confirmation that includes the UPS tracking number for your package. You can track your package on the UPS web site, www.ups.com.
UPS Ground: Delivery takes 1-3 days to the West Coast, 4-7 days to the Midwest and 7-10 days to the East Coast. Actual elapsed time depends on the timing of your order. If you order Sun-Thu, your order will be shipped Mon-Fri, with delivery in 1-7 days. If you order Fri-Sat, your order won't be shipped until Monday, so actual elapsed time is 3-10 days.
UPS 3 Day Select to 48 contiguous states: Delivery is guaranteed by the end of the third business day to every address in the 48 contiguous states. To get books by Friday, you must order by noon Tuesday. Otherwise, you will get books the following week.
UPS 2nd Day Air to all U.S. addresses: Guaranteed on-time delivery by the end of the second business day to every address in the United States and Puerto Rico. To get books by Friday, you must order by noon Wednesday. Otherwise, you will get books the following week.
UPS Next Day Air to all U.S. addresses: Fast, guaranteed overnight delivery to all 50 states and Puerto Rico by 10:30 a.m., noon or end of next business day, depending on destination. To get books by Friday, you must order by noon Thursday. Otherwise, you will get books the following week, unless you want to pay $15 extra for Saturday delivery.
Saturday delivery is available in some areas for Next Day Air packages. There is an additional $15 fee for Saturday delivery. Saturday delivery is not an option for 2nd Day Air or 3 Day Select.
UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (USPS)
Shipments and deliveries are made Monday through Saturday. The Post Office does not count Sunday as a business day and takes more holidays than UPS, including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day, along with all the regular holidays.
Delivery times are estimated, but not guaranteed.
Priority Mail to all U.S. addresses: Priority Mail is one of the all-time great shipping deals. Most packages are delivered in 2-3 days for a reasonable cost. However, delivery time is not guaranteed and some deliveries take longer than 2-3 days, especially if you live in a rural area. We have had great success sending Priority Mail packages to big cities like New York and Chicago. They almost always get delivered in two days. However, during the holiday season, all bets are off.
